Matthew 3:2

“Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”

John the Baptist was born just a few months before Jesus was! It was part of God’s plan that He would send someone ahead of Jesus to prepare the people with the message of God. When John was grown up he called ALL the people to turn away from their sins and he told everyone that Jesus would take away the sins of all mankind, not just the Jews.
